Kisii Stone products are made from the namesake African Soapstone, Kisii Stone. Soapstone is a natural rock. Soapstone is relatively soft because of its high talc content. It has a smooth finish and feels like soap, hence the name.

Soapstone is commonly believed to have a soothing, balancing effect while creating a positive, calming energy, balancing the digestive system, reducing irritation and skin rashes, sun burns and allergies.1

After mining the stone, each item is hand carved from one piece of soapstone with a machete then wet-sanded smooth by the artists of Vaneal Self-Help Group in Kenya. Once the carving is finished, the item is dyed and etched with the finishing accent patterns. By purchasing this piece, you are partnering with these artisans in Kenya to create employment opportunities.

Each stone has a different color pattern, grain, and design. Therefore, no two natural soapstone products are the same.
